my 92 LT-1 wont start about once every 9 months. Push start catches but will not stay running. Let sit for 7 minutes and starts and runs like never an issue! Confused and worried about getting stuck.

Sounds like a bad vats. That's the security system that uses the resistor chip in your key. Sometimes they get tempermental. May be time for a vat eliminator.
Do you know the difference between a VATS event or a engine run problem?
do you mean that it will not turn the starter....or that it will crank but not fire?
If its a VATS event it may stumble and fire IF you push the car (a manual trans) to bump-start it but it cannot run because VATS has the injectors shut down for at least 4 minutes.
vats is your ignition key has a micro chip in it to prevent it from starting if the correct key isnt used. your ignition system reads that chip and will then let it start. do you have additional keys you can try? thats one thought. you could have a bad neutral safety switch if its an automatic or a bad safety switch on the clutch pedal if its a standard transmission.
thanks guys- now I know what vats means! Car started up in 6 minutes, so I guess cleared itself. Seems to happen once every 8 or 9 months.
Thanks again

take it to a good locksmith that does cars and have the keyswitch replaced. its going to fail and probably at the wrong time. doing it now might be cheaper than a long distance flatbed tow!
