Just recently I noticed an oil leak that appears to be coming from the intake manifold. When I shut the car down it begins to smoke on the driver side for a few minutes. I'm still holding oil pretty well and oil pressure remains constant as it doesn't appear to be leaking while the car is running. Is this something that should be fixed immediately before I drive the car again or is it something that just needs to be monitored until I get a few hours to replace the intake manifold gasket?
Are you sure it's the intake manifold gasket leaking and not the valve cover gasket ???
I agree - better to change it sooner than later, ... BUT ... maybe double check the 4 valve cover bolts (and the intake manifold bolts - while you're there) to make sure they haven't loosened. While the center bolt valve covers are FAR more leak resistant than the older style valve covers - those gaskets have been on there for a while.
