ignition switch or lock
after driving some bumpy roads something went wrong with the ignition switch or lock, I cannot start the car, when I turn the key it doesn't feel like it goes trough the ignition steps, the key moves freely, what can be damaged ?
thanks,
Dan

Does your column allow the steering wheel to move up and down a bit with the tilt lever locked? If so - Loose pins in the tilt mechanism may have allowed the column to move enough that the linkage that connects the top of the column (where the ignition switch set) to the bottom (under the hush panel and where the actual ignition switch sets) to come out of the ignition switch. It also could be an issue where that linkage connects to the steering rack.
I made the repairs to tighten the pins recently and replaced that bearings and ignition rack a few months ago and how have a relapse recently where the column bearing came apart.
I used this photo of the FSM in my post. It doesn't show the linkage but I can tell you it goes from part #44 down the left side of the column and should be recessed into the actual swithc.
