Default '84 hot start issues

Many CF posts address TPI hot start problems. But I'm looking for help with an '84 TBI. Replacing fuel pump relay didn't work. My car starts okay when cold and when driven, say, 10 minutes. But shut it off after a longer drive and try to start it again in a half hour and it just grinds. Give it a pause. Try again maybe a half dozen times and it might finally fire. Once started, it idles and runs fine. Haven't observed fuel spray thru the injectors while cranking, but when idling, both seem even and healthy. What's going on? How to fix?

Sounds like heat soak/vapor lock.

Generally efi cars don't have vapor lock problems. Check for spark when its acting up, the ecm gets a signal from the ign. module to fire off the injectors. No spark & no spray usually indicates a bad ignition module.
