The 12SI had an 8mm mounting hole on one end and 10mm the other. There was also I believe two different dimensions from center on the 10mm hole.
Now what I thought the ideal generator upgrade was to the CS130/CS144 or is there an "authenticity" requirement? A 17SI @ 140AMP might be hard to find, don't know. 120AMP were used on loaded Cadillacs and I don't recall anything else.
Ok, I thought it was the 17S but wasn't sure. So if the listing says 17s or Large Style it should be the same then
An original '84MY 97AMP (1105513) and the 108AMP (10479865) - anyone you buy from should be able to confirm those are 17SI with 2 10mm mounting holes. Check the mounting holes on yours from the images I gave you. You should be fine.
and summit had said this would work http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFF-7140FBULL6G. I had orginally gotten this but it was the 12si case. But now since I know for a fact its the 17si case I'm confident with ordering the new 140 amp alternator.

thanks
i don't believe that's a go. It mentions it's a 10si with a smooth 12si case. Is there a particular reason you want to use Summit?

You are correct it won't work. That is the one I mentioned in the first post. I was using that as an example....that summit said it would fit but doesn't. I did find a 140 amp with 17si case today that was in stock and ordered it. Thanks for the help
What was it you ordered? Did you check your generator against the case images that I posted for you? Frequently when going from a 97AMP or 108AMP there's some wiring that needs done to utilize the larger 140AMP. I believe that most call for maybe a 6 AWG wire for battery lead that should also be fused @ maybe 200AMP. That's best of recolection you might want to check. Is it overkill for 140AMP? I wouldn't think so!

Nobody like summit, jegs had anything in stock. Thats who I would normally buy thru.
I ended up going with this. Hopefully I don't have to make any wiring changes.
