Replaced the clutch Master cylinder and slave about a month ago, was driving into a parking lot Saturday morning and went to push the clutch in and it just went solid and would not depress.... Took everything back out looking for some blockage or somehting but nothing there. Question: With the slave cylinder out how much play would there be in the fork? there seams to be about 1" on play then stops.... The car only has 55000 mi.. Anyone ever have this happen???
I had a similar problem when changing my slave cylinder a couple of years ago. As I recall, the plunger in the new slave was shorter than the original. What happened was that the shorter plunger would not stay properly positioned in the throwout arm. When it came out of position, I could not depress the clutch pedal more than an inch or so.
That is exactly what it was, it slipped out and jammed against the bell housing and fork! I just put the old one back in and it works just fine. Where is the quality control on this one?
Thanks again.
