meziereHD water pump question
My question is, does the pump come with all of the necessary things to complete the project? Freeze plug, wires, relays, etc? Anything else I need to buy?
My car is a 1992 so it has the one-year water pump I believe. It also has 109,000 miles, but the water pump and opti were replaced at 85,000 miles. No signs of the opti failing yet, but I am wondering why the water pump hasn't even made it 25,000 miles. Maybe it was a cheap one? Idk.

The OEM pump flows more from about 3500 RPM up, than the Meizere water pump.
The reason why it works for most people is because most people here dont road race the car. They drag race or tool around on highways. Its ok for short bursts.
The way to make the Meizere HD pump cool better than the stock system is to replace the stock radiator with an (expensive and heavier) Dewitts, etc.. radiator. Then the more efficient heat transfer seems to mitigate the reduced high RPM cooling of the electric water pump. In that case, there are people here road racing with that combo and it seems to work.
Elsewise, expect higher temps then the stock..
Also, if you do this mod, Ive heard its best to hack off the weatherpack connector and direct solder the wires. Ive heard horror stories of someone getting a pump with a loose weatherpack connector.
You probably want some kind of alarm rigged into the cabin too to let you know if the water pump (its wiring, or relay) have failed.
good luck!
Prior to the electric I used a 160 thermostat and typically saw consistent temps up into the 220s.
With the electric I ran consistently under 200.
Now electric + 3 row aluminum radiator it runs in the 170s. Regardless of indefinite idling w/ac on, street driving or heavy wot. Stays in the 170s.
To each his own, but it's worked well for me. I would definetly disagree with the above statement indicating it will run higher temps than stock. Is that from experience or speculation? Its not my experience. The Mez pump comes with a freeze plug for the water pump drive.
Go with the HD pump if you decide to get it.

I definitely agree, go hd pump if you go electric.
You have an upgraded radiator, so you are gonna have good results.
A few things to think about before installing a WP118 water pump.
Some refurbished or aftermarket stock pump housings will come with a larger then stock hole where the freeze plug is installed. So you may need to source a larger size freeze plug from a local parts store if this is the case.
The WP118 will not come with the factory inspection cover gasket. If you are careful when you disassemble your factory pump you should be able to reuse the gasket, if you need a new gasket you will need to get one from your local dealer. I would check ahead of time to make sure they have one in stock. Part # 10128329
Do not use too much silicon sealant when installing to pump. If the sealant gets on or under the impellor during the install it will glue the impellor to the pump. The electric motor cannot overcome this and it will burn up your electric motor.
Remember all Meziere water pumps come with a 2 year warranty.
