Is this to much Cam??
I reciently bought a Lingenfelter 74219 Cam and was going to purchase a SR Intake, but I just don't have enough money. (Just bought a house)
So I found a ported Plenum, ported Manifold and ported AS&M Runners and was thinking of using it with the 219 cam, a set of 190 AFR heads, 1.6 Roller Rockers, 52mm TB and a set of Hooker Longtube headers.
I know this Cam was designed for the SR but how well do you think it would work with a Ported stock intake w/ AS&M runners? How much can a Ported out Plenum/Manifold/Runners flow v.s. a SuperRam?
Thanks :)
Oh I should add here the goal is consistant mid 12's. :)
i think it would run fine, do some prom work after you run the dyno to make sure your air/fuel is in line and enjoy. the 219 cam really isn't that large, the hot cam is even larger and they seem to work alright on worked TPI setups even though they work even better on shorter runners. i still for the life of me can't figure out why people like the super ram so much, they are a bizatch to work on and have leak potential worse than factory TPI. i think TPIS needs to have a forum test drive day on the miniram along with a wrenching session. i have a feeling they would be selling more manifolds :yesnod:
For the time being, I don't see why it wouldn't run well. Like the others mentioned...re-tune it and you'll be good to go(hopefully). That Scorp combo is sure feverish isn't it? :) I can imagine what it sounds like, I am similarly configured.
Sounds like a good combo and I think you can see a realsitic 350 HP or more.
Torque is going to be in the 400's easily.
(that with 3.73 gears...my god youre going to have traction problems at idle) :D
Btw,if you have the '86 if I recall, you going to retrofit the 219 in the non roller block?Or is it a hydraulic flat tappet version of 219?
Just wanted to be sure.Retrofitting cost extra money and misc parts if you dont have them yet.
:)

Hi Bill,
Yes it is a non roller block '86, So I'll need a few more parts to get the Cam to work. But I think the gain will be worth it. :)
350 HP and 400 Torque.................................m an does that sound nice!!
This project is going to start late Fall after I buy the remaining parts. In the mean time I'm going to make many more 1/4 runs and a few Dyno runs with my existing set-up to develop a starting point. I'll post all of my results. :)
