88 corvette best performance mod
i have a 88 corvette and was just wondering whats the best few mods 500 and cheaper and where i could find them at. i just recently bought my car and know little bout corvettes. ithank you very much also used parts or if you have anything aftermarket for an 88 vett rims or accessories let me know thanks again

There are a few low cost mods that will add some power, though you likely won't "see it" unless you go to the drag strip
-toss the "frisbee" disc from the front of the WP pulley-10chp
-install a 160 deg T-stat-10chp
-cut-back electrode AC Delco spark plugs-8chp
-cut the air filter lid & install K&N filter-10chp
-toss the spare & jack; run 1/4-3/4 tank of fuel~100lb reduction=10chp
These should cost maybe $100.
To "feel" a surge install a 2,000rpm TC and TransGo shift kit. This will give tire shredding starts and tail-wagging 1-2 shifts. This will likely cost >$500.
To get more power free up the exhaust with 2 1/2" mandel-bent front Y, hi-flow cat and hi-flow cat-back. These will cost >$500.
Also, run ~35psi in tires for optimum handling.
Have fun with your new '88 Vette...

zach89, just some humble advice...... get to know your Corvette before you start 'adjusting' things. Your vette will perform very well in stock mode. Don't 'throw' money at your vette expecting it to increase horsepower X2. Enjoy what you have for awhile, then you will understand more about the mods you may want at a later date.

i also was wondering if anybody knows where i can get a cheaper set of headers that are direct bolt on i dont care bout smog or emissions as they arent strict here and thank you all for the helpful info
