My Car sat for about 6 years in a Garage and naturally the A/C doesn't work. I had a can of Freon left so i put it in and it worked but it leaked out after a month or two. Should I convert to R134a or go with the Freon again after finding the leak. Thanks
After 6 years of no oil on the gasgets I would think they were dry and unusable. I would think it was time to retro. The cost of R12 would outstretch R134 retro.

Here's a cheap fix that just might work for you, it did for me.
I went to my Chev dealer and looked throught the parts book and bought all the "O" rings on the compressor, expansion tank etc and replaced them, took about an hour. Then I spent $40.00 at AutoZone and bouight a retro kit and, following the instructions charged it with R-134, it took all of the oil can and two of the 134 cans. Started cooling within 3 minutes and has bee fine for almost 2 months now. If you have a very small lead it's not to bad to just recharge with the 134 every 2 or 3 months. Total cost was less than $50.00. There is also a special seal restorer oil that you can put in before the 134 charge. Good Luck
