Checked for codes, none there. this morning it started fine for about three or four times then nothing again. But I can hear click behind dash like some one said I should from vats system so do I need starter and anyway to check it, hate to change it and then have same trouble. thanks
Re: how do I check out starter (convertible lover)
First measure the battery volts when cranking. The battery should not fall below 9.0 volts or the battery is discharged or at the end of its service life.
Many auto parts places will test your starter, but if it is intermittent, it might test ok. Remove your cables from the battery and clean both the cable lugs and battery posts. Bright and tight are needed to supply 100+ amps to the starter motor. Remove the ground cable first and reconnect the ground cable last. Soap and water and a stiff bristled brush followed by steel wool and a dry rag is in order. Even if you did this recently, do it again.
