My 1992 base vette "died" a few days ago after starting it. I drive it daily. It started again and I drove home from work. Later on that day, I drove it again for about 15 minutes and it "died" while I was going about 35 mph...not while stopped. Had it towed to a Corvette specialist from whom I bought it. He's had it several days and reports that it has not "died" on him...runs fine, says he. I was thinking "fuel pump" but don't know what to think now...I am sure it's gonna do it again if I pick it up from the mechanic...What's going on?

Sounds like the ICM. It probably starts when cold every time, but dies when at normal temp? Are you getting any codes? Do you have the FSM? I have one that I think I've read cover to cover about 5 times since I got my 92 back in April trying to sort this thing out

Dealing with the same issues on my 93... FSM has been my right side companion for a while now.
The fuel system has been updated from sending unit thru the injectors.
ECM, MAP and TPS also been checked.
IAC and ICM next on the agenda when changing over original plugs and wires soon...

There are a lot of threads on here about C4's "dying" after a little bit of driving. The overwhelming response on most of those threads is the ICM. That's exactly what it sounds like. Once the engine starts warming up to normal operating temperatures, it dies. There's a fairly good chance that the ICM is your problem. I'm not a mechanic, and that problem hasn't happened to me in my '93 yet (knock on wood).
More knowledgeable members will help you out soon.
When dead, will it crank? throw codes? have spark? have fuel pressure? have injector pulse?
If it dies again, if you're able to do a little detective work you'll get a lot of helpful posts. Maybe you can carry a spark test tool, fuel pressure gauge, and noid light for a while? Oh and a paper clip!
When the car dies, you can determine whether you have lost spark or fuel by spraying a small sniff of ether into the intake while cranking. If the car tries to start, you have a fuel delivery problem. If no response, look for an ignition problem. As others have said, a little preliminary detective work will head you (and us) in the right direction.
