Default Hypertech chips? Anyone know anything?

I have one the previous owner gave me with the Vette. I went on their website but can't find anything on this one. It's a plug in unit. It has the following numbers on it:
On the raised protion with the window:
ST 88809S
27256 F6X
On the long portion under the pins:
BCT SYSTEMS 1062

Any ideas about it? Worth it to install? I'd like to read up on it.

1 in 100 chance you'd like the results. Many/most HyperTech chips actually use the same timing/fuel curve but put you in PE (power) mode with less throttle movement.

No change in potential power, just feel like it because the pedal seems a bit more sensitive. On the first half of it's travel. On the last half, you'd be disappointed...wondering where the extra back/top end went.

Exactly...

worst case scenario is a change in how it runs....

Best case,. it is a "ThermoMaster that runs the cooling fans sooner, keeps them on longer and advances the timing slightly for some increased throttle response...I think all HT proms are street legal, so that tells you right up front that they are not magic...or extreme.
You certainly can't hurt anything by trying it. Do a blind test and get someone else to install...maybe NOT install and see if YOU notice any difference. Do it both ways as long as YOU do not know which chip is installed...
That will negate the butt dyno or SOTP dyno effect. No placebo effect if you don;t know which chip is in there...

Fan changes alone are worth the swap if there are no negative effects.

Last Hypertech that I read had a few changes. It was for an 87 f-body 350 tpi auto.

It had some minor changes compared to ABWW (not necessarily good or bad).

Fan on/off temps set to 175/162 for 160 stat. Fans will likely run constantly with these settings.
Roughly 6 degrees added only to main spark high load column.
TCC lock/unlock speeds raised by 12-16 mph
PE vs rpm (richer) by about 3%
Minor tweaks to MAF table #1
Reduced knock retard temp limit
TCC forced lockup reduced by 5 mph.

Overall, cooler, richer in PE mode, more high load advance and looser TC settings. As such it may offer minor performance improvements over the stock ABWW. Nothing earthshattering.

Note: They missed the SAM temp limits (as does just about everybody) so its unlikely that useful historic BLM values will be retained due to the reduced coolant temperature.

Back in '95 this was all that was available. It worked for me . Hypertech changed the fuel curve for me twice. However they refused to change the cold start program and the garage stunk on warm up.

Thanks guys. I don't know if I'll try it or not. I just wondered whether or not it would make a noticable difference in performance.
