Default When to check fluids

Hi guys.

I'm really sorry about my question but I don't quite understand the owner's manual and I've been reading around looking for some clarification.

So on my DD I usually check the oil level and transmission level when the cars has been not running for a couple of hours and on level ground.

Is it the same with the Vette.
Do I check the oil level and transmission level when the car has cooled down or does it need to be warm or even running. A dude I know said that it's like with older model Opels that needed to be checked when warm and running.

And what do I check on the dip sticks.

Ok with the transmission I'm guessing the fluid has to be in the upper part of the dip stick between the wavy parts.

The oil I'm guessing that has to be also on the upper part of the hatched part indicating enough oil present.

My Vette is a 95 automatic with LT1 engine.

Thanks for the clarification and best regards.

yes, but if you just bought it, check daily for a few weeks to see if there's any oil useage that wasnt obvious when you bought it, after that , I usually check them bout twice a month.

Thanks you. I've had the car for about a year and some now.
But the thing is I'm not sure when to check the oil and transmission fluid. When the car is cold or warm and running or stopped.

Thanks again and bye.

ENGINE OIL: Engine off cold on level ground

TRANS FLUID: Operating temperature running in park and in the wavy area (NOT Overfilled).

Overfill would be above and appear "foamy" if this is your situation get it back to normal fluid level. Overfill is NOT good!

Thank you very much for the clarification.

I figured about the cold engine but the transmission I really wasn't sure.
I think both are in a good level. The oil and filters were changed just a couple of weeks ago and the transmission was apparently ok. But now I know how to check I'll be ok.

So thanks again.

You do NOT want an overfill situation. It's not very pleasant experience to lower it to a proper level but if it's foamy or overfull it needs to be done sooner rather than later.

Thank you I'll make sure that there will be no overfill.
