The thread about gearing with a 383 brought back a previous question I had but never asked - does anyone make a "better" gear set for the 700R4? Something with closer ratios like the Chrysler OD transmissions have?
The A500 has:
1234R2.741.541.000.692.21
The A518 has:
1234R2.451.451.000.692.35
Seems to me like the gears out of a 200R4 would work better for us:
There is an alternate gear set sold, I believe it it was released about two years ago. I looked around last week as I was considering some changes and they are still around $2,000 IIRC. I remember back when it was being developed Pete K had a set to test but I don't remember any follow up.

Ouch. Seems like it would be easier to mod the tailshaft on a 200R4 to fit to the c-beam. I'm sure it wouldn't be too tough to figure out a flexplate, starter, etc. The 200R4 has the universal bellhousing as well so it will bolt right up. I'm guessing the yoke might be different between the two.
