C4 2 cup master cyl fix
big plan involved tightening the exhaust hangers so it didn't rattle anymore or bounce around when moto-x'n Texas city streets...and my own dirt road driveway...
bad news was finding rotten metal in the cat-back portion...Good news is the front still looks solid..but that might get cut up if I install some LT manifolds !
Can't win around here..
Got the brake MC done finally. The old single cup resevoir with the crossover tube was completely destroyed...went into a doz pieces when I tried to pull it off the master cylinder.
Installing the 2 new cups was challenging. One went on no problem. Wetted the grommet with brake fluid, set grommet in the cup, set cup on the master and pressed straight down...popped right in.
The 2nd (rear cup) was less cooperative. After 10 attempts I got it where I believe it will be ok. Problem was the grommet kept popping up over the metal collar or sleeve in the master, so instead of the grommet edge snapping in around the machined edge it would spit the grommet off the sleeve and ride up high inside the cup..so the cup was not fully seated. Sealed yes,. seated no. I thought I was pressing my luck pulling that cup off/on so many times with no spare or replacement anywhere in the same time zone, so I left it for today.
Question...
is there a better lube or some other method of popping & snapping the cups down on/in the master cylinder? I put grommet in cup, then cup on the master...and I've got 3 grommets and all did the same thing.
I ended up using a bit of white grease on the bottom of the grommet to see if that might help it slip on easier but it did not seem to matter.
Any suggestions on that? Those cups are just fragile enough to make me fearful of breaking one pushing or pulling on it. R

many thanks to Ralph for the help with parts !
