the b&ms are crap, they are only after a harsh shift, not a quality shift. they block the accumulators so what you think its a nice firm shift is really fluid shock, very bad for the tranny. Get the transgo kit, besides the give tire chirping shifts it address the facoty flaws and corrects them, so you tranny will actually last longer.

Thanks for the info.. know of anywhere that sells this kit??
Trans Go ! I have used their products for over 20 years with success. Shop around for hte best deal. I bought some at Jegs and Summit this year. Sometimes, you can call them and bargain.
How big of an improvement will these kits make??? Also in the kit description, it says "Gives the option of being used as a full manual, or automatic"... how is this done???
trey, thats for a 4l60 right? not the 4l60e you have in your z28?
as for the full manual option, basicly you drill some extra holes and and change some parts here and there and it will completely disable the automaxtic shifting. You now have a clutchless 4spd. Put it in 4th from a stand still it will start in 4th. If your cuising in 3rd and you nail it, it wont downshift. If your into road racing this is the ticket, i also shift my tranny myself, and eventually when i get the time and money i'll do the full manual option.
Be aware though if you forget to downshift and start out in 3rd or 4th theres a very good chance you'll fry the clutch packs.

Humm.. is there a happy medium where you can set it in OD and it will stay as an auto, but give you the option to shift?? If not, do you know how responsive the shifting is when you do the stick shift option??? I know currently, if I shift on my own, it has a big lag.. will this be eliminated using the stick shift option??
unfortunatley theres no happy medium if you dont install the full manual version, it will downshift and upshift as it sees fit. As for responsiveness, theres different springs and washers you add to adjust the firmness of the shift.

Humm.. now I have a decision to make.. thinking... thinking.. I always wanted my Vette to be a manual.. a clutchless auto *would* be nice.. hummmm...
Do you know if I can go back to the automatic if I dont like the stick option?? or I am drilling out things in the actual tranny that would prevent this?
i wouldnt think more than 100 bucks..theres complete trannies on ebay for 75-150 and even if they're fried the valve bodies will be fine.
I also have the a copy of the video that comes in the kit..its 20 megs on a cd around here somewhere i'll see if i can find it and put it online for you guys.
copy this to the address bar and hit enter
ftp://tranny:tranny@l83.homeip.net
then right click and select copy to folder
its pretty involved, quality sucks because its only 20megs but you'll get the jist of it. I only allow 3 users at a time so if it doesnt work, 3 people are already there.
