Here it is boys & girls, the engine is all back together and ready to fire. I encountered almost no real problems, everything was pretty simple to accomplish. Now I have to wait to get the new PROM and that will probably be after Christmas, it's gonna be tough waiting, especially since cuisinartvette has got me so pumped about how it will run I will have a tough time waiting. Please excuse the dust, I didn't take time to blow it off.
Can you tell us about the rest of your engine combo. It will be interesting to see some real world results with that intake. I haven't seen many results with it.
I have no idea what to expect from this, I will be getting the PROM from PCMforless , then I will get it dynoed to see if any changes are needed to the chip and then I will post numbers.

The only tests I have seen were performed by Vette magazine on a C4. That car made 20+ more hp at the wheels with this setup over a superram. My engine is a 383 with a mild cam, 11:1 compression, some mild work done on the heads and a true dual exhaust, all in all a real tame combo. We didn't go into specs but a tech at Edelbrock claims over 600 hp with this intake but he has to have a radical combo.
Looks great. Too bad you have to rely on a third party for prom tuning. It's taken me hundreds of calibration changes to dial my combo in, and I still make occasional changes at the track to accomodate weather conditions. Any chance of using an aftermarket computer? Is smog an issue? It would kill me to have to wait 3 months for a prom.

Smog is not an issue and I did consider an aftermarket computer but since I don't actually race the car I figure pcmforless will give me the best all around tune for all conditions. I realize it may sacrifice some power for every day drivability but that is the intended use. It IS going to kill me to wait but I'm afraid I have no choice, at least at this moment. If something happens to bring in a little extra money the PROM will be ordered asap. On top of all this, the weather here in Hellinois will not be very nice in probably less than a month so the car would be sitting anyway.
To all the above who like the looks of it, THANKS! I really appreciate the comments.
Can't wait to hear your first impressions... This is one intake that really has me intrigued
I don't remember, did you ever post a list of parts required to change over to this intake? (manifold, throttle cable, etc)
Manifold, fuel rails, LS throttle body. I could have used stock cables for the linkage but I wanted Lokar cables. For the kickdown I used their 700R4 with TPI cable, both ends were a perfect fit, I only had to cut off a few inches to make it right. The throttle cable is an LS style 36" cable, I had to make some slight changes to the mounting point on the firewall, nothing more. It was about 6" too long so I cut it to fit. The cruise control cable is the universal throttle cable, 48 inches long. It was pretty straight forward install with just a hole drilled to accept the end on the tb and replacement of the ball chain on the servo end with a small link style chain. The chain is necessary so the cable will not be binding movement when cruise is not used.
The tps & iac were a simple matter of repacing the stock connectors with camaro connectors, the wires are all the same colors so it was just a cut & splice deal. The plastic air inlet hose fit the ls throttle body perfectly. I opted for a polished Summit tb but a stock camaro or truck tb will work. It took 3 days of searching through NAPA's radiator hose pictures to find a top hose, the stock one was too short by 2 inches. I had to get a small cap hei to fit behind the intake but there again, all the wires were the same colors. That is pretty much the whole story, everything else was just a simple bolt on deal.
I don't see a MAF in the pics so it's either out of the frame or you're not running an 85 (or at least non-MAP) computer.
If you are running an 85 computer, start that thing! I ran a Miniram 408 on a stock 85 tune with no issues. Not ideal, but no issues. The 85 computer is dumb, it sees more air through the the MAF and adjusts. It doesn't look at a bunch of other BS to confuse it. Not an optimal set-up but a flexible one.
i think your first feel would be a little loss of low end torque. But a stock TPI is to much limited ,so 1500-1800 rpms over it are a good deal and more...your engine bay looks amazing

The maf is outside of the picture but I have also replaced the ecm with the newer version and it came with no prom, that's why I am waiting.
I once tried a stock chip in the 85 ecm while it still had the tpi on it. It seemed to run almost as good but the engine had to have been leaning out because it got hot right away. It was over 220 when I shut it down so I put the custom chip back in and it cooled right down to where it usually runs at about 180. Since that happened I would never try to run it on a stock tune again.
