Re: BPP Vortex Cold Air Intake C4 - Yea or Ney (Mr Mojo)
Mr. Mojo,
Does a cold air system provide any measurable amount of performance increase?
TPIS claims a .2 quicker 1/4 mile time with their Airforce 1. I have one but do not like the fit. I would like to buy a system that actually helps performance and fits well/is a quality piece.
Thanks,
Jim B. :D
Re: BPP Vortex Cold Air Intake C4 - Yea or Ney (vette punk)
The tests we ran at the track gave Panuzzo about 1 mph and one tenth, but that could have been in part due to the weather. I have the timeslips somwhere, but we came to the conclusion that it didn't help until after the 1/8 mile.
No improvement off the line.
Re: BPP Vortex Cold Air Intake C4 - Yea or Ney (LT4Sam)
I wonder if the guy who reviewed praising the high quality of the intake got the same kit I did?
I sent mine back for a refund after a year. It did not fit well and the flange that you clamp the intake hose to was too weak and warped over time. It also rubbed a couple of spots on the bottom of the hood. I'm a mechanical engineer and have been working on cars since I was 12--if there was a way for it to fit properly without rubbing I would have found it.

Check out this linc I started last week. I ended up doing some custom work and got good results. Just go to search and type in "Cold Air Induction L98". Sorry, I tried to copy the linc, but it didn't work.

I have the SLP cold/ram air unit. It's worth about 0.5mph over the cut lid with K&N. It's a nice piece and very easy to install. It fits '85-'89 style radiator shrouds and costs about $150 from SLP. If you don't already have a K&N it's a great buy as it comes with a stock size K&N.
Like MrMojo said you'll feel the result in the second 1/8mi.
Re: BPP Vortex Cold Air Intake C4 - Yea or Ney (Mr Mojo)
this kind of mod is what im planning to do next. L98 cars have plenty on the low end already, and top end is where we need breathing help the most. my 1/8 mile is explosive, but after that my car tends to lag a bit. anything that increases the top end of these motors is a good thing
