All 96 LT-1/4s have a crankshaft position sensor and sender ring on the crank that is used to detect misfire. Corvette LT-1/4s have 4 bolt mains.

Lets say if there was a misfire. What would the dash say? Check engine? Or does it flash some other message?

You get the "check engine" light. Then when you scan it (I use autotap) it will tell you what cyl and how many misfires the PCM is seeing. With aftermarket programming or LT1 edit for obd-II you can tell the PCM to ignore the misfires so that it won't turn on the light. I've seen even small cams trip the misfire light on the obd-II cars without programming.
