By the time they are bad it's best to replace the whole part. The rear hubs are decent in price and only take an hour or two to replace. The last ones I bought were WBI and were $80 but I see they went up. WBI has been lasting well for me. Timken should be similar in price last I looked.

OK, the ones I saw were like around $250ea. Can you post a source for me? Also I am not familiar with the WBI brand, are they quality bearings like Timken? I don't want no China crap.. I can swing $80-$90 a side, thanks for the info.
Just noticed your sway bar end links! Where did you find them?

There are some very expensive ones. Lots of places sell the hubs, Summit or Ebay. Other thoughts would be NOS or buy from Indianavette. I've bought a few from Ralph, here is a link:
There have been some huge bearing threads. I believe I posted the WBI info in that one that was many pages long.
The rear end links are pretty simple, so they can be easily made. If cost isn't an issue several places sell them as a kit (way over priced for what it is). Guldstrand, EM, etc. The front is more involved.

To OP or others, can you give typical symptoms of what you are experiencing that indicates the bearing is starting to fail? Wondering because I have been trying to troubleshoot a squeak that the passenger sometimes hears that seems to come from my right rear wheel area of my '88 C4. Have jacked up wheel and can't tell a problem either in brake or worn bearing so wondered if you might be experiencing similar problem.
Raise the car and see if there is any play in the hub assembly/bearing by putting hands at 3 and 9 o'clock position and push and pull to see if any movement. Do the same at 12 and 6 position. If there is excess play, you need to change it.
Thanks, that is what I had done with no apparent loose play. I am currently thinking it may just be a squeaky bushing in the rear suspension.
I had wondered if the occasional squeak might indicate the end of lubrication in the bearing which might lead to a squeal that leads to the wear that leads to excessive play which leads to needing to replace the bearing/hub. Will continue looking!
I realy don't think they are to bad. But they have 140,000 mi. and I am doing a Dana 44 swap out and was going to takle all the wear item while I have everything out i.e. bushings and bearings u-joints etc.
I had a squeak when a U-joint froze. The cap on the U-joint was moving (it's not supposed to do that) and rubbing against the U-bolt that holds it, thus causing the squeak.
