Engine Wiring Connector Questions
Lots of distractions, to include the P{anthers losing, AGAIN.
Bought the fuel pressure gauge at Harbor Freight. It did different things each time.
One time it went to 30 then dropped down to below ten in seconds after turning off the key.
Another time it did nearly nothing when you turned on the key but When you crank it it bumped up to above 40 just to drop down as soon as the key was off.
Either way- It wasn't right. Opened up the fuel regulator. Looked worn. Even corroded. (sitting dry?)
Tried to drain the tank by disconnecting the fuel line hooking a hose and turning on the key, Nothing happened.
So I opened up the fuel tank and pulled the pump. I can tell that someone had opened it before, but the gasket work was questionable at best.
Taught my son how to siphon gas (funny), then cleaned the rest out with a towel. Gas was tarnished and dirty.
Tomorrow is pay day for me. I either order parts and get em by the weekend or buy em from advance auto. I hate to buy the fuel regulator from them, in addition, The fuel regulator is missing a screw that holds the thing together.
I'll test the fuel pump and clean the filter next to it.
I'll find the other filter and change it out.
The Saga continues.
I should have changed the oil before it started. Apparently rain had leaked in while the engine was open. I drained it and put Autozone oil in to help flush it. Once I get it tuned, I'll swap that out.
Couple sparks flew while it first started, worried me, I'm pretty sure it came from the Distributor I rebuilt. Add that to my list.
And the engine is racing, and the headers lit up incredibly hot within a minute. After pulling and dropping in the distributor at least 4 times, I feel as though I am an expert at finding top dead center.
I once again want to Thank all those that helped me.
I'm gonna start 2 more threads dealing with my next issues.
I just wanted to give closure to all those that posted on this thread, their assistance was essential.
