I'v searched every thread but couldnt find anybody with the exact same issues.
I have a '94 C4, Automatic (4L60E) Only 75k miles. Im not sure if its slipping problem or not. If i give the car light throttle, it will shift soft but at a normal RPM. If i throttle normally, it will shift late and soft. If i give it WOT, it will bounce off the rev limiter. I dont know if it will eventually shift cause im scared to leave it there for too long. The first time i noticed this problem, i check my Tran. fluid and it wasnt even reading on the dip stick. So i filled it up. (I hope that didnt cause it to burn up) I then noticed the level kept going down and i was leaving spots in the driveway. So i have a leak. If i give the car some gas while turning >20mph, the RPMs will rise but it wont go anywhere till half way through the turn. Then it will have too much power. (This causes my backend to get out alot in the rain).
Is this a problem because my Tran. fluid is leaking and not building pressure to shift? Or does it sound like i need a Tran. rebuild.
Welp, for everyone who ISNT following this post: I took my car to AAMCO this morning and they discovered that it wasnt shifting into 2nd gear. (Which is why is shifted so high in first and dropped so low around corners) It shifts into 4th, so they know its not the 2nd/4th gear band. BUT, they have to drop the whole trans. to see whats causing it and fix it. He quoted me $850 for labor PLUS whatever it takes to fix 2nd gear. Good thing i kept my grand prix. Now accepting donations....
I'm kind of having a similar issue except I have no gears reverse 123 or 4 I was driving and then I just did not have any any power going to the tires motor is running strong and good, are there any electronics that would stop the car from shifting or the transmission functioning on ac4 1984
@Ron Rico, NO a 700R4 is all MANUAL control old school automatic tranny. I suspect you have NO fluid pressure if you have no go forward/reverse. Pump failure, torque converter failure,etc...
@Reames, shift solenoids-make sure they are ok, also make sure you don't have any throttle position sensor issues/codes.
