Default Fireworks under the hood.

Well been reading post on opti and its going bad and to replace it or not, also took leason on what I read n not jump to fast.. tonight in total darkness, ran the motor and Rev's it to where it would skip and OMG. What a light show lol. Arcing sparks on both sides of the motor, no wonder i scanned and said muliple misfire..

Question, with new plugs in, I can't even see the wires is it fast to just
pull the water pump to replace the wires, then may as well ,put new cap and rotor on too? It doesn't seem like there's any trick to changing the wires other wise??

thanks for the tips never to old to learn.. Pastamike..

You may not need an opti. It's too soon to tell.

Rt side plugs and wires are a piece of cake. Left is worse. I pulled the ASR setup loose and folded it up over the computer and removed the belt and the complete tensioner assy, spring housing and all.

This dives you decent access, not perfect but decent.

Haven't done yet on the 94, but have analyzed and would NOT recommmend pulling water pump -- it does not provide any better access to the wires where they attach to the OPTI.

Agree with bassackwards, Passenger side is easy, and regarding driver side, some have loosened the alternator bracket and the ASR.

Consider purchasing a set of wire supports if yours are not in perfect shape and black plastic wire ties to hold the wires to the supports.

Remember to use silicone grease Sparingly on outside of each wire connection on the OPTI and to hear/feel the double-click when inserting the wires into the OPTI, while pinching the wire boot to allow air to escape as it slides onto the OPTI.

Default Many thanks

Very sound advise for sure, epically the double click on the optispark may have stopped at one click and would be doing it over again..

Guess its time to just roll up the sleeves and get er done..

Thanks Pasta..
