In my search for an L-98, I've found quite a few LT-1's for reasonable prices. Will standard heads/water pump/etc bolt on to an LT-1 block and work correctly or do I have to stick with non-LT-1 stuff?
Sorry for the noob question but I've never done anything with LT-1's.
Heads physically bolt up but you have to deal with the coolant passage differences between the two blocks.
LT1 is reverse cooling so coolant goes to the heads first , not the block first like on GEN 1 engines
You would need to weld a coolant port on the surface side. Tap threads into the back with AN or pipe, I welded my front coolant passage. My heads did not have the rear passage machined. also needs a hole drilled for your oil return. It was worth the conversion for me.
Not many options for LT1 heads and a 383 and $ way to much money $
Ps water pump, timing cover are way different.
