Went with a Snap-on MT2500 scanner for a few reasons (known as the red brick).

a. Vintage OBD1 reader for that year (pre-OBDII).
b. Shows codes and live data... not just codes.
c. Was originally a $5,000 tool 20 years ago... now seen on ebay starting around $200 on up.
d. Various affordable plug-in modules available. The 2 modules specific to the 93 are:
  1. Primary cartridge for GM-Chrysler-Ford-Jeep (Domestic combination through 1996)
  2. Troubleshooter GM-Chrysler-Ford thru 1993

A few quick searches...

Good luck

What do you wish to use it for?
If all you want is to see the codes then you can display them on the dash by jumpering the ALDL connector terminals

...Or buy a relatively cheap cable (~$70) and get free scanner software for your laptop.

I have even heard of people taking their desktop computers into the garage to scan their cars. If you don't have to do it very often then that's a viable alternative.

Somewhere around your year GM started the "push a magical combination of buttons" to display the codes on the dash.

You need this cable to connect the laptop to the ECM
http://www.aldlcable.com/

Download this program to datalog ( and adjust tune with other hardware)
http://www.tunerpro.net/downloadApp.htm

You need to download the files relevant to your car here to work with the program above
You need the two files in $DA2 row ( 92/93 Vette )
http://www.tunerpro.net/downloadBinDefs.htm

Then you will be back here asking questions on how to run it

Memorize this

Would there be any good reason to own MT2500 other than reading codes?

It's not 'just' a code reader - it also shows live data from sensors, too.
