I had a zf6, now it is a 700r4...

I am finally wanting to put a console plate from an auto,but....

since it was a stick had no indicator lights,

I want to connect one soon, where can I get power from the dash lights without tearing apart the atari ?

I don't know where you can get power for the indicator. You do want to tap into the dash illumination so it'll dim with the rest of the dash. I'm pretty sure the radio and HVAC control head have a separate lighting/dimmer circuit from the other lights on the dash. I guess the switch panel at the top of the center cluster would be the place to look. Sorry I can't help more but it's 2:03 AM and I don't feel like digging through the FSM right now...

Be aware that there are two holes in the gear indicator for bulbs but only the rear hole has a bulb in it. The front one is empty.

What year is that diagram for? I don't have a INCANDESCENT POWER DRIVER or CCM in my '86.

I think I asked for too much, I tried to read it, it think it's in the upper right corner, perhaps the right question would be what color wire and from where?

I don't need it to dim just go on and off with the lights, how about somewhere behind the climate controller?

1990
the OP never stated what year he was inquiring about and has nothing in his profile,
I recall from past posts he had '90? All '90+ cars have the CCM

So you want the lights on all the time the engine is running? You just need any feed that is hot with key on then

The schematic only shows what the wires run to , it is up to you to locate their path

The PRNODL lamp is shown on left hand side of circuit diagram ; between the 2 courtesy lamps .
A three items are connected by gray wires to the INST fuse

There are three gray wires coming out of the fuse box on pass side of dash .At least one of them has to run across the dash to the drv side courtesy lamp.

thanks I have a 89

so it would seem the normal lamp would not dim and I don't understand, the door lights come on when the doors open, won't connecting it to this part of the circuit have the lamp on all the time?

Any wire that lights up when you hit your lights you can tie into usually grey.
closest one may be the ac controls?

Any switched 12 volt source will be fine. You don't need the shifter console to dim. When I did mine, I got power from...don't remember. It's been too long. Tap into the fusebox and make sure you put in an inline fuse. Fuel pump, wipers, radio, pretty much anything.

then the light will be on, when the ign is on, vs triggered by the lights,

besides I bought an LED light instead of trying the OEM, in that case who cares about premature burnout
