I'm seriously thinking of lowering my Vette approximately 1" with the VB lowering kit or something similar. Are there any drawbacks involved as far as drivability?(i.e.speed bumps, potholes, etc.) With the condition of the roads around here (Horse & Buggy country :D) I'm having some concerns. :yesnod:
Re: Lowered Vettes...what are the drawbacks? (Hardcorvette)
I had my last vert slammed with the X brace i scraped everything.
Just lowered my partners coupe and you just have to be aware that it is lower.
not to bad at all

My car is down about 2 inches and I don't have much of a problem... I do tick people off when i'm pulling into a driveway or going over speed bumps thou... I take my sweet time. On the road it's not bad at all... course the roads in FL are nearly perfect. If I was in a northern state.. I prolly wouldn't of gone down two inches... but 1 and you should be safe.
My ride actually improved after lowering the car... enough so that even my girlfriend noticed it 1st time out.
Re: Lowered Vettes...what are the drawbacks? (JPLT1)
My suggestions is to try just the rear first then consider the front. The rear is a 30 minute job, the front a 5 hour job. I did mine on jacks in my garage and then you must have it re-aligned afetr becasue most of your settings are wacked out after the procedure. In retrospect, I would have only done the rear. The front rides really stiff and is non reversible unless you want to put the rubber back in after cutting it off of the spring. In the front you put in apiece of hard plastic and like a I said when you hit a bump hard enough you feel it. The rear you can adjust back to stock if you like.
The up side is it looks really great IMHO and you really dont hurt anythnig. I have 315's in teh rear and there are no problems althoug I did adjust my raer a littlle too low and would rub the inner wheell well when I hit a dip in the road.
