Intermittant problem. causes tach to fluctuate eratically and car will not continue to run. tried to pull a code, but could not remember the paper clip trick details.
any ideas would be greatly appreciated

I am assuming that you unplugged the harness that goes to the coil and coil driver (on the front passenger side of the head)? I had a similiar issue a few weeks back. My car would drive around fine, but above 5k it was like I was hitting the rev limiter. Anyway I chased the problem for a few days and finally came up with the conclusion that the harness that plugs into the coil driver was not making contact at high RPM's because of more vibration at a higher RPM. I had to bend the harness terminals a little so that they would fit tight on the terminals on the coil driver. Also if you unplugged the connector that plugs together at about the center of the intake on the passenger side, make sure that you are getting continuity through the connector (test each wire on both sides of the connector). Let me know what you find out.
