Battery Cable Lengths?

I see various cable lengths offered as replacements for my 1986 but what are the stock cables correct sizes for both + and -?
I see them anywhere from 40- 55"...
What do I buy and why the variations?

Positive cable is/was 56"

Negative is/was 37"

I would expect a 40" generic as a replacement for the negative. The originals aren't available any longer and I think most replacements would have black protectors at the battery bolt rather than red for the positive. If it's a slip-on protector you could change it if it were a concern.

I believe the positive needs 2 leads and the 2 gauge battery - the negative 1 lead and the 2 gauge battery. NAPA or most any "first line" auto parts store.

Rock Auto has the correct AC Delco 56" cable.

Thanks. Found the OEM + cable on FeeBay for $24
