I couldn't wait any longer, I ordered my PROM from pcmforless. I'm in no hurry to get it but when I do I will be posting the results. Meanwhile I'll go over the install of the Pro Flo XT in case someone else is interested. The install for the most part is nothing exotic, just an intake manifold change. I'm not real happy with Edelbrocks fuel rails, I had fuel leaks at all 4 corners, I had to tighten the pipe to AN fittings a lot more than it should have taken, on a few I had to use teflon tape instead of paste. I don't like the tape but it did seal the connection. Also I used Summit's own fittings and I ended up changing two of them out for Earl's. Once I made the change the leaks stopped at those connections too. One of the other leaks was at the regulator and replacing a Summit fitting with an Earl's took care of that. I guess that's what I get for trying to save some $$$. The Edelbrock cable bracket does not clear the fuel rails so I had to make some tubing spacers to extend it out beyond the rails. I also had some slight bending to do to make the cables line up but I expected that. I used all Lokar cables and they are great quality pieces. The tv cable was a piece of cake, however I may have to play with the setting of the length to keep the trans happy, there is no provision to set it like the stock one but I think it will be fine. The throttle cable was a little tougher but only because the cable had to mounted to the firewall instead of just being pulled through and snapping in to place like the stock one. Getting waaaay up inside the firewall was no treat but doable with the proper words,
I used the 36 inch LS cable for the throttle cable and only had to shorten it about 6 inches. I had to get the 48 inch universal throttle cable for the cruise control, then I had to drill a hole in the throttle body linkage to mount the cable end and make my own connection at the cruise control unit. Now I know why GM used a ball chain for a connection. I got some small link black poly coated chain from Ace to make the connection and it works great. I used an ordinary Chevy t-stat housing, then sat down & looked through all the hoses NAPA carries to find one that would work. I tried 2 without any luck but the 3rd one fit like it was made for the car. I used a stock PROM to check for the leaks & make sure all my electrical connections were good on the computer upgrade. At first I had no spark but a new dist. module took care of that. Then I had no injector firing which turned out to be the VATS built into the PROM, (thanks again to Agent86 for catching this). Once I get the new PROM I may have to re-install the dist. because it may be 180 off due to my messing around before I found out the injectors were not firing. All in all a real simple job, if anyone wants any more info just ask.
