idle on an 89 vette
How smooth should the idle be on an 89 l 98. I have had this car 6 Mo it has 14000 miles on it,just had the plugs, cap & rotor changed cleaned the TB and adjusted the IAC and idle still has a rough idel. Is this just a problem with this engine ??? It pulls very strong. The idle sits at 600 RPM but just not smooth.

I have an 89 changed all the same parts plus the injectors had 5 bad ones changed all 8 still have slight rough Idle can't find the problem if you or somone has an Idea that would be great. or maybe they just idel rough. :confused:

600 rpm is a little low, you might want to go through the minimum idle air adjustment in the tech tips section. Scanner will tell you what idle the ecm is commanding.
Mine was idleing so good the other day my buddy tried to get a nickel to balance on it's side on the plenum, it wouldn't stay up but almost did.
I had to replace the throttle body last year due to wear at the butterfly shaft at the same time replaced the IAC. It was searching for idle (up / down) and inconsistant, was still fairly smooth.
Why not go out at night and start car and open hood to see if you can see any arching from the plug wires?
