Default odometer swap

Hey guys, since you guys have had the answer for everything so far, I have another question... can anyone tell me how to remove/swap out the odometer on my 84 corvette? I have a new digital cluster I have to put in, but I want to keep my old odometer. I pretty much have the cluster out...just have to figure out how to unplug the wires(I read a thread on here how I have to pull up the dash a little and pull out) but my main concern is the odometer change. Thanks

You would like to retain your mileage correct? The BCM module.. contains this information.

Yes, that's exactly what I am trying to do. So I am confused... I do not need to take the odom. out? it will recognize the mileage? (sorry, i am not too good in the old mechanical knowledge category)

Ok.. I have no idea what your speaking of. Are you saying the odometer might be soldered into the cluster? Can anyone who has done this before tell me how to take it out? Can i just pry the two "screws" holding it in off?

My '87 has an old-style mechanical odometer. I strongly suspect the '84
does too. I don't see how the BCM would be involved.

yup, that is spot on. Same thing here. I'm pretty sure this thing just comes right out and I can swap em out. I just cant figure out how to remove it. Theres two screws/bolts on the front of it, but not sure how to get them out.

Try this:

Odometer Motor Removal Procedure
After removing cluster from dash:

1.Place the cluster face down on a soft towel on a smooth surface
metal rear cover on top).
2. Remove the 7/32 inch headed screws holding the cover to the cluster and lay the cover to the side.
3. Locate the wires coming from the odometer motor to the PC board and unplug the connector.
4. Remove the three 7/32 inch headed screws holding the odometer to the cluster.
5. To reinstall the motor assembly, reverse the above procedure.

My 84 is mechanical.. IIRC early C4's didn't have a BCM, started about 1990?

Thanks for the help guys, swapped the cluster and odometer last night, no problem. A little tight trying to get the new cluster in it's spot, but with a little gentle force I did it. WVZR...that helped alot thanks!
