Default 1989 Headlights Not Working

On my 1989 corvette, one of my headlights will go up and back down but barely. The other one will either go up and not back down or only half way up and back down.

On the one that will not work at all I replaced the gear with a bronze one and new bushings and that did not fix the problem it still did the same thing.

What is recommended for me to do now because the other headlight is probably on its way soon too. I really need this fixed and can not figure out what to do.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Stephen

i have the same issue, replaced gear, but did not fixed,if you try to force assembly motor moving it by hand you can feel it has not enough power to pull the headlight,i think about the brushes inside motor...

even if your assembly is a different model year, this may be the worn out part

I did replace the bushings in the gear and yes it has to be some type of power issues as if I push on the headlight when someone pulls the switch then it will go up no problem same with going down it will go down without any problems if I am pushing on it when they push the switch in.

I also need to buy some parts it looks like as the idiot who tried it before me lost some parts while taking it apart which I just noticed. I don't think it will make a difference just the piece is loose instead of tight like the other. Looks like a small snap ring and maybe a washer of some sort is gone.

Do you happen to know where I could buy those or know if it matters that they are gone.

Also wondering if you know any tricks to getting the little metal pin out of the motor as I remember taking it out earlier and it being a complete pain took me like 2 hours just to pound it out.

That dam little pin was a pain to get out. After I got mine apart I found the po already replaced the gears with the bronze and had new bushings. After looking at the brushes it looks like they are a little worn and could use replacing. Originally my problem was the driver side headlight not going down, after putting it back together it goes down but not up, go figure.
