Default Anyone know this connector?

While cleaning the engine bay on my '95 LT-1, I found what looks like a pneumatic connector of some sort not connected. It is a gray, 90 degree connector attached to a (vacuum?) hose which is wrapped in a protective tube (much like a wiring harness cover). It was tucked under the throttle linkage at the front of the engine (I've tried to attach pictures). Anybody know what it is and where it connects to? It comes from under the front of the engine. There is a empty hole in the air intake right behind the MAF sensor that it fits but I'm not sure that's the right place. Car seems to be running fine as is. Sorry, if I seem ignorant but can't find any reference to it anywhere.

Thanks!

Mike

This thread in C4 General talks about a vacuum hose going to the air coupler behind the MAF. The hose is the vacuum line to the Opti that helps to keep moisture out.

And it is very important to the life and health of the OPTI, so fix quickly...

The connection behind the MAF is the in-flow of air to the OPTI so that the air is filtered -and- the MAF has measured it -- the out-flow (vacume) side of the OPTI should go to a manifold intake connector (perhaps mid-engine under cover on driver side). Both sides of the OPTI venting system must be connected to keep its internal components dry and absent of corrosive gases.

Once the connector is re-installed, you may also notice a slight improvement in the engine -- as disconnected it allowed additional un-metered air to enter the engine -- likely causing the engine to run too lean.

Default Thanks! Is this where it connects?

Is this hole behind the MAF where it connects?

Thanks to both of you!

Yes!

You have a good eye for detail.

As mentioned previously, this is VERY important on your engine.

Enjoy!
