Hey fellows, I have a 1993 with a LT1 and the engine chokes when I accelerate. It does not matter if the engine is cold, hot, running, just started up. It doesn't matter if I accelerate from a stop light, or just driving on the road. I have put different gas in it. All 91-93 and have been to different gas stations. It only chokes when I step on the gas. It normally chokes when it get close to 3000 + rpm. This sucks when I try to race people(normally mustangs). Any ideas. I have not tried anything. The guy I got it from put new injectors in, also I have put in an octane booster and it seemed to do it less. It will choke some times and then be fine.
any or all of these things can cause it to not want to rev. Since its a LT you have one fairly expensive possibility in the Opti...so I'd check everything else first. Your FSM will describe what to do and how.

Sorry - that is one of the classic Opti symptoms.
Try everything else first, but be prepared for an opti & waterpump change.
Find someone near you with a 92 or 93 Factory service manual and follow all the troubleshooting steps first.
Check you fuel pressure regulator, a.k.a. FPR. It is located at the back of the fuel rail on the intake manifold. There is a thin vacuum line hooked up to it. Pull that line and see if there is any gas there. If there is, it needs to be replaced.
Unless you know for sure when last replaced, it may also need the basics, plugs and wires.
