Website that decodes VIN?
Somewhere I found a link that could tell everything about a Corvette just from the VIN including all the options.
I forgot to print the sheet and now cannot find it.
Anyone wnow which one I'm talking about?

I put my VIN in, and all I get is that it is a '96 Corvette Coupe.
No RPO codes, or any specific information about my car.
All information is just general '96 Corvette specs.

I can't believe a vin # could contain all the information about the different options on a vehicle. That's why there is an options sticker on the bottom side of the console lid. If the vin could contain all the info why go to the expense of printing up stickers?

Yes I did just now. I shows everything I have but I can't verify the both tops option. I know the second owner and he told me he purchased the smoke colored glass top for the car because it only had the hard top when he bought it from the dealer who had taken it in on trade. The RPO listed for my 90 shows it should be blue. Possible that the first owner didn't include it with the car when he traded.
My guess on this is that the company with the "decoder" site purchased a data base from GM that listed the options on that particular vehicle identified by it's vin. It isn't actually a decoder because there are too many different options to be able to "code" the vin to indicate the options. That was my point on "decoding" the vin because there isn't a "code" in it that goes into that much detail.

Pretty general knowledge in what the actual digits of a VIN include, and as you stated none of them are for any options (other than engine).
Not sure if GM sold a database with this information or not.
But it has to be coming from some type of database.

the right VIN, it's been in my garage since new.
They also couldn't do anything with the VIN from my '01 Nissan Pathfinder.
Not useful.

The OP is looking for all of the options that his car was built with.
None of the generic vehicle decoders will give you that.
Although that site shows quite a few cars, it has been reported before that many don't show up.
The only way that I know of to be 100% correct is ordering the information from the Corvette museum.

I was offering another VIN search site, that describes details gleaned from a VIN (if available, which obviously doesn't include every vehicle made, as already brought up).
I'll refrain from posting anything else, didn't mean to offend.
