Default Vortex Rammer or what else?

What can I get to get me good air flow up front? And what will give me the best power increase? As you can tell by this and my other topic I am starting with air flow in my car first. Thanks for all opinions and ideas ahead of time.

Well if you want some serious air-flow, I'd recommend the air intake sytem that wires into the duct where your corvette insignia is inscribed on the front bumper. When you're riding it lets in cool air through a compression chamber that traps it and cools the rest of th engine compartment. Often this reduces heat capacity in the engine chamber by as much as 40-60%. They sell em through mid america for sure. If you want power..........I would definitely go with either a Super Ram or Mini-Ram. Mini-Ram's are more expensive and actually are more efficient in most cases, but Super-Rams are less expensive and have alot less to do as far as the install. Super's are not very efficient though compred to minis. And minis have the pain in the butt of install and maintenance on their downside. For now though........if I were you I'd probably think of a Vortex air intake.......the one from Breathless Performance. They suck cool air in and could give you as much as 20-30 xtra horses if you do it right. Who knows, just depends on your setup.

The Ram Air effects will only really help at high speeds. Someone on the forum actually put a thermocouple in the intake and found that after 1-2 minutes of driving the air temps in the intake were the same as the ambient temp even with a stock intake. It would be useful if you are going to be drag racing, 1-2 minutes is a bit too long to wait for cool air:yesnod:.

The simplest is a cut lid and a K&N filter (seems to me there is another filter with a similar high capacity, but I don't recall the name). Next step up is the SLP Claw - 3 conical K&N filters in place of the stock filter box. Looks cool and makes sound that terrorizes ricers.

I doubt anything done to the air filter system will net more than a couple of HP.

How does the air fed through the engine by the ram air also travel through the engine compartment to cool it?

I wouldn't replace the intake on an LT1 with a Super Ram--it would be a step backwards. They don't make mini-rams for the LT1, since it is basically the same intake.
