First time this has happened, driving my 1989 Corvette at slower speeds, probably around 45-50mph for approximately 2 miles drove just fine. Got on the highway and opened it up a little bit on the on ramp, probably to 75 or so, whole thing shut down, stalled. Coasted to a stop on the shoulder of the highway. It cranked and cranked until the battery went dead. I have fuel pressure. I am going to check for spark as soon as I have the time.
Hi, I have a 86 C4 and have been having low RPM stalling for months. It would fix itself after using fuel adative but then the problem would reapear. There were no codes and the fuel pressure would build up. This last time however, the fuel pressure would not hold. My book said the problem was a leaky injector or a bad pressure regulator. Bunko, It was the fuel pump. The pump itself needs to hold pressure. I replaced the fuel pump which is easy on the C4 and not expensive. The result is that I'm now convinced that my car needed a new fuel pump for the last 30K miles of driving. The car is fixed and drives normal. If your car pulsates when on cruise control at about 35 MPH, it needs a new fuel pump. Hope this experince helps my fellow C4 owners.
Hi, I have the repair manual for my 86 and it comes in handy for troubleshooting. Your problem was easy to find because it was probably constant. My problem was intermitant and dependant on atmospheric conditions. The ECM makes these problems difficult to troubleshoot.
