Was leaving my driveway this morning put it in reverse backed up put it in drive and then nothing. Shifter goes into all gears but does nothing acts like its in neutral in all gears. When it happened it didn't make no funny or weird noises. I did have trouble with the tv cable last week . I called my Trans shop they said doesn't sound like it needs a rebuild . Any suggestions or ideas?
Fluid level is good. I'm gonna try replacing the tv cable can anyone direct me to a "how to "? I can't seem to figure out how you would get to it with the exhaust being in the way even taking it off seems like it would be damn near impossible to get the bolt out and your hand up there
The TV cable controls the pressure in the trans. It doesn't affect the gears. You will still be able to go into the various gears and drive the car with the TV cable disconnected. You will probably get some slipping if you really mash the gas, but your trans can operate with REALLY low pressure -- that's from personal experience.
It is not possible to replace it without removing the front Y pipe. It's held on the trans by a 10mm bolt -- if you get to the point where you need that info...
Is your shifter cable OK? Still attached to the transmission?
You could have a pump problem. The only way to know for sure is to connect a pressure gauge. Right now mine is showing 25 PSI at idle (and it's still drivable) -- it was 90 PSI when I rebuilt the trans a year ago. New pump sitting on the workbench...
