'96 does have a spot for an O2 sensor behind the passenger cat, I believe. My flowmaster system came with an open hole for this. My '95 doesn't have a sensor there, so the shop just plugged up the hole with a bolt. Shouldn't be a problem to put a '96 system on a '94 so long as you plug that hole. That's my experience, at least.
Actually, someone with a '96 wants to buy my old system. So a hole would have to be made.
The '94-'95 have the O2 spot after the cat on the passenger side, but we don't have one after the cat on the driver's side. Is this what you're referring to?
Hmmmm.... you know, that's weird. You're the second person to tell me that the '95 has an O2 sensor on the passenger side behind the cat. Actually, the first person just 'thought' he had an O2 sensor there. Are you sure the '95 has an O2 sensor behind the cat on the Passenger side? If so, mine lacks that sensor for some reason. I bought my Flowmaster system from a guy with a '94 who had the system installed for him. I thought maybe his installer had just put on a '96 system by accident when I saw that it had a spot for an O2 sensor behind the passenger side cat and my stock exhaust did not.
That's really odd..... As an aside, my car has the NY specification front/rear impact option, but not the NY emissions option. I thought that was weird as well.
The 02 sensor resides on the drivers side behind the cat of my '96. I would think any decent muffler shop could weld a bung fitting on for a few bucks.
Well, '94 & '95 both have the OBDI - OBDII hybrid computers. The hybrid computers are supposed to have 3 O2's connected to them. I KNOW my '94 has the O2 behind the passenger cat. I replaced both O2's before the cats, but didn't touch the one behind on the passenger side. It does absolutely nothing. My cats are gutted and it did nothing to my computer.
Now I'm really wondering... Why don't I have an O2 sensor behind the passenger side cat? I'd understand if my stock exhaust had a place for an O2 sensor that had been removed...but there was none.
Dave95C4, My 95 had 3 O2's as well. you should look under the car for another plug from the O2 that is not there. It should be there. If the computer was reprogramed to ignore the third sensor you shouldn't need it.
Nope...there's no O2 sensor behind the cat. I pulled my stock exhaust system out of storage this weekend and there's no place for a 3rd O2 sensor. I thought maybe I just didn't find it during the cat-back change, but there was not even a place for an O2 sensor in my stock system. Am I misunderstanding and the O2 sensor is somewhere in the line before the cat-back connects to the pipes exiting the converters?
the driver's side is going to be in the detachable part of the cat back (i think) .. the passenger side is going to be on the cat piece right after the cat.

Ahhh....mystery solved. If the O2 sensor is not in the detachable part behind the passenger cat, then that's why I didn't see it. Still, I wonder why the '94 Flowmaster system I have on my '95 has an opening for an O2 sensor on the passenger side?
'94's have 3 O2's, that's why :D. The OBDII '96's have FOUR of them   . When I redid my engine, i just changed out the two before the cats .. didn't bother with the one after my passenger cat. It's not used for calculations.
Here's the ticket, and RichS Should be able to verify this.(about the LT4) The 96 LT1 should be the same as the 93-95 except for the 4th O2 sensor. I now have a '95 exhaust on my '93.
Now the 96 LT4 should have the 4 O2 sensor bungs as well as an "H" pipe or crossover. I saw it on another Grand Sport. Other than that, there shouldn't be no reason why you couldn't use it.

That sounds about right to me... I have a 96 LT1, 4 O2s on it... I also have a 96 LT4 exhaust sitting in my garage to replace the crappy Dynomax mufflers (see my sig)... The LT4 system wasn't off a GS but has the H-pipe right before the split to the mufflers... My LT1 system is exactly the same with the exception of the H-pipe...
Now a new question is, is there a difference between federal and Kalifornia cars for the 95 MY Y-Bodies??? I know that the F-Bodies had exhaust differences in that ODB-II transition year (95), maybe the Vettes did too...
