The Corvette steering is set up "stiff" on purpose. It's supposed to give you a better "feel".

I don't know about the '95s, but on earlier cars you can swap out the power steering pump pressure regulator for a non-Corvette one and get lower pressure. Or put in a pump for a Monte Carlo.

You can also go to a larger diameter steering wheel. Might be a bit impractical, given the air bag.

I like the feel! I wouldn't change it for anything!

It may be that the steering rack has internal seals leaking, which would make it hard to turn.

Does the steering effort change when driving?

Putting skinny tires on the front will make steering effort less too....not look very good, but would decrease effort.

There is nothing that can be done to make that steering easier for an elderly woman. Sorry. Its the nature of the beast.

You CAN get a slower/longer radius rack that adds about 1/2 turn to each side, that MIGHT make it 5-10% softer....otherwise that steering was designed to do exactly what its doing. Its not a Camery. This is what real sports cars feel like. Uncomfortable, harsh sometimes, even painful. But the "fun factor" is so large to those that appreciate it, even someone like me that has arthritis from head to toe and has to struggle to exit the vehicle, will continue to love the car...

I've seen this before. Vette for sale because someone bought one (???? if you didn't like it?) and sells it weeks later because it did not ride as good as their mercedes or their lexus.

Find a vette shop and ask them to price swapping in a base rack, IF you have a z-51 or z-52 sport package...thats the faster/stiffer rack. Otherwise, it is what it is...

They eliminated the fast ratio rack in the early '90s, so it has the "slow" rack already.

Also, does it make any groaning noises? Is the belt tight, and not slipping? If it was mine, I would go to the grocery store, get a turkey baster, and suck the fluid out of the reservoir. Then refill it with a synthetic ps flluid. Drive it and do it again several times and see if this helps. C4's had a cold weather problem with the ps system and the synthetic fluid was GM's answer to it.
If you search the forum, you will find many older post referring to this problem titled "morning sickness"
Here is a link to one to get you started. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c4-t...-sickness.html
But if that dosent fix it, its probably the rack assy.
