Default What does this hose go to?

I was working on the car today and noticed this was just laying there, not connected to anything. I'm assuming it goes on that bowl shaped thing right below it, (what is that by the way?) or does it connect somewhere else? thanks in advance!

you are covering a valve in the pic with your hand?

my guess it goes to the fuel tank vent tube

This is where I'm assuming it goes, just wanted to double check.

my guess is your cruise control is not working because of the loose unconnected hoses

Depends on what was (connected or not) on the other end of that loose hose. It should go to the cruise control and a vacuum check valve next to the distributor (driver's side). From the vacuum check valve it also goes to the HVAC system inside the car. The vacuum source is on the rear of the plenum on the passenger side.

If the rest of the vacuum lines are intact and connected properly then you DO have a vacuum leak and I predict your car will run much better with it connected.

Notice how you get about three pumps on your brakes when the motor is not running before they get hard?

OK so it stores vacuum for the booster when the engine is not running, like the engine supplies vacuum to the brake booster when it is running?

That is the vacuum tank for the cruise control and HVAC system.

The brake booster connects directly to the plenum.

I plugged it in and the cruise still doesn't work. I don't think it has worked in at least 15 years. lol However, the car died at a stop light today when I turned the ac on. It cranked right back up, but I'm wondering if this was disconnected since everything ac related was upgraded to run on 134a. Anyone know? I guess I could try unhooking it and see if it still stalls out. I think the reason it stalled has nothing to do with this hose though, and is more likely from me setting the timing last night to 6 btdc. This car seems like it preferred a setting closer to 8. Can anyone chime in on where they have their timing set? Everything is stock. Thanks

I would get a diagram of the vacuum system, trace it out, and replace all do the old hoses.
