I am thinking of new wheels for my '93 c4 LT1 and don't know what would fit, and what does "off set" mean, I know what is on now , 17's and i 'm guessing the fronts are 7.5 and rears are 8.5 ? this being a cost of a grand or so i want to get it right. any info. would be most appreciated . thanx.
Your '93 if it's a base car has 8.5" wheels front and 9.5" wheels in the rear. A confirmation of this would be tire sizes 255/45 front and 285/40 rears. There's a certification label on the drivers door that displays original tire sizes as built.
If your certification label displays 275/40 for both front and rear check the SPID label on the console door for RPO Z07 - that would mean the car "as built" had 9.5" wheels X 4.
The offset on your wheels regardless of width is 56mm. If you were to change wheels it might be wise to stick with a "very" similar offset, if you'd like to be able to rotate tires do all four the same and you'd like a wheel center bore of 70.3mm for fit to hub.
If you're shopping you might want to come back with your interests before buying and being disappointed.
thank you for the help. i'll check the labels on door and console , but what does does off set mean? just would like to understand .
It's the dimension from the center of the wheel to the mounting flange of the wheel where it bolts to the hub/rotor. It can be a positive number(outboard) or negative number(inboard) of the wheel center line.
Google "wheel offset" and also "wheel back-spacing" There's many tutorials!
