steering rack

If your assisted steering system is having problems then it would also contribute to the difference in steering. Be sure that the rack is good and the power steering pump is working properly.
The standard rack on the Corvette is about a 2 turn rack. You can upgrade to a 2-1/2 turning rack which will turn the wheels much quicker.
Ain;t gonna happen.
The want that sexy, sports car mystique and the sensation that comes along with the endless stories but they refuse to accept that its a different animal.
A LOT like the wanna be biker mentality...go out and spend $15000 on a Harley, go for the first weekend ride and park the thing to collect dust...not what they expected. Nobody told them it was work. People have become lazy and expect their fun to come in pill form or something that does not get their hands dirty...or hurt.
Why someone comes here to ask how to make thier car easier to drive...when they have access to shops all over the place that could advise them, IF they were truely car guys...
Not trying to be adversial, but I'm disabled, got serious arthritis in every joint in my tired old body, and I STILL crawl in and out of my Corvette and understand that its MY choice to drive something thats a little more difficult than what I should be driving around in...and I still wear cheesey Hawaiian shirts while trying to extract myself without the help of a paramedic! Thats my choice...just like the car.
Love it or sell it. There is someone out there that will appreciate the car for what it is and does.

Help is not the issue. The kind of help they seek just isn't...
Call me a purest, call me a jackass, but putting someone on a car like a corvette that is not physically able to handle that car is:
dangerous, if nothing else.
naive
and totally in denial.
I would no more ask my mother to drive a corvette to the store than I'd ask her to pilot a Delta flight to Atlanta...its simply above her ability.
There is a little common sense involved here...
I recall admiring a 50 sumthin Vette at a DIY car wash and the middle age woman that was wiping it down had a conversation with me about the car. Beautiful car...all original, in mint condition. All stock.Even the huge ugly white walls...
She inherited it and knew exactly what she got...she made no bones about it..the car was wayyyyyy more than she could handle and she did NOT take it anywhere farther than a couple miles away.
Why?
it was so heavy and took so much upper body strength that she could barely wrestle it around a corner at low speed. It was hell to park and even harder to manage if it got loose..
The woman understood her limitations and she kept the car because her late husband restored it and loved it for what it was/is and she was going to keep it for that reason, but knew that it would never be a driver for her...no misconceptions.
Like I said, there is common sense involved here. If there was a mechanical problem, a noobie should talk to their trusted shop. But to expect to re-engineer a car to fit their need is IMO, rediculas at best. I cannot remember a time when I went car shopping when I considered a car that did not suit my needs....There are plenty of comfy passenger cars that the factory has "sexed up" to give the driver/owner that feel of a sports car.Easy to drive, comfy, some get up and go...
The Corvette remains a purebred performance machine thankfully, and only those that can handle such a machine should be those that apply..
Sorry if my thoughts offended anyone, but I just do not understand those that get into something like this without having thought it thru to its logical conclusion...
The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

How often do we see threads about harsh rides, looking for softer shocks, etc.....
My first thought is "why the heck did you buy a Vette?"
Same with the OP. He gave us just enough info to not sound reasonable.
Rather than saying the steering is stiff or heavy. He posts about how to convert to a Chevy feel.
Well skippppppppppp? What say you?
You guys are to quick to jump on the "man up" bandwagon.
