42.....Since I set my timing, I've had a code 42. I've tried everything to clear this code....Also, the car has lost some power on the take off....I used to be able to spin the tires at will (even with 2.59's)...but now it won't even break the tires loose....do I have something else going on with this code?????Car runs fine, and gains spped, but no where near as it did....now just a smooth gradual increase, like the timing is not advancing....ANY help would be appreciated........
Just disconnect the the batter cable, positive or neg from the battery for two or three mins and it will clear the code...I let it go for 5 mins, got have a soda and come back and hook the bat cable back up...Remember to take the paper clip out of the test plug if you shorted the plug to get the codes.
As far a power is concerned...The 42 is a MAP code as I recall...You can get a Bosh rebuilt from Auto Zone for 80 plus bucks and remember to plug in the plug to the MAP when you removed it. Do not buy a new one...Also take the MAP back you got to replace the other one if you cannot clear the 42 it may be a bad rebuild...Just tell them somethings not right with it and they will give you another..
By the way if the MAP, in the air intake is bad, you wont clear the 42 until you change that puppie...Do not spend big bucks for a new one to change this out take your core to auto zone etc, just replace with Bosh for Bosh if that is what you have....The bad MAP will effect your performance off the line as well.... :smash:
