A/C problems
Occassionally, when turning on my a/c, it initially works and then the light starts flashing and I get hot air. If I disco/reco the battery, the compressor starts working again. Initially, I was told that I had a leak, which was fixed and recharged. When the problem happened again, the repair shop said all the did was reset the computer. Has anyone experienced this phenomenon? Is there a way to reset the computer without disco/reco the battery?

What year? On 1990's and up there are self diagnostics built into the AC controller which can help isolate the problem. There is a specific procedure to go through to get the various fault codes to display on the controller. Check some of the recent posts for a "How to Do It". I don't know if earlier C-4's had the feature though.
From your description it sounds like low refrigerant may be a possiblity.
