Default front seal leaks

I just bought a LT4 convert. and the front seal leaks. Is this a common problem?? I traded in a 96 LT1 with 57000 miles and no leaks. The LT4 only has 27,000 miles and is in prestine cond. except for this problem. Any knowledge and/or info about the LT4s would be greatly appreciated.

Front seal as in what?...

If you mean front intake manifold seal, then common and not hard to fix.

I think my front main seal is leaking on my rebuilt engine. I've noticed oil spots on the driveway and on the large beam right under the front of the engine. :cry :cry Gotta figure out what to do about that.

I was told there are two seals, one is the distributor seal into the block and the other is behind the harmonis balancer. I went by the shop yesterday and they had the front end disesembled. the oil was showing coming off the front cross bar and associated parts. I was told that the car had not been much and the seals had gotten hard and leaked when it was driven more actively. Is this a resonable answer??

:yesnod: :yesnod:

I've been told to go out and run the car to operating temp about once every two weeks during the winter when it is in storage to keep the seals from leaking.....
