The problem: A/C unit runs cold and fine for a length of time 1 hour to 3 hours  After running for a while the air flow starts to decrease and the blower sounds like it's working harder to blow  Soon there is no air flow and the only sound is the blower motor trying to push out cool air :mad
After the Vette is parked for a while ...a few hours and everything cools off, the A/C unit runs cool and fine.
I popped open the hood today after a 2 hour trip and after there was no cool air blowing :mad :mad I saw the the accumulator and the low side line had heavy frost on them
Could I have a vacuum line inside the car that is getting hot and sags producing a crease in the line and shutting off vacuum to something that holds the mixure door open
It seems that on cooler days I never have a problem with the A/C but, on hot days the hotter it is outside the sooner the problem shows up.
The owner: :mad :mad :mad
Thanks for the help on this one guys. Larry :cry
The symptons you describe are typical of a evaporator coil freezing up due to low refrigerant charge in the system. When it gets dangerously low the low pressure cutout on the accumulator will open the circuit and set a code after the unit stops functioning. Another possibility is that the evaporator is dirty and causing a loss of air flow and this causes the coil to also freeze. See if you can get someone with refrigerant gauges to check the pressures in the system. Look around the fittings and compressor clutch for indications of oil as this will help to locate a possible leak area. hope this helps. Unless you are comfortable and knowledgable on these systems it is best to leave to the pros.
Thanks for the input...very helpful :yesnod: :yesnod: :yesnod: Now that I look at it..after the car has been run a while with the A/C on, there is not as much condinsate dripping as before   I used to have a lot of it dripping out as the car sat after running the A/C...Now to find that condinsate drain.......I think It will lead to a problem :yesnod: :yesnod: Larry
