Default Steering column 94 C4

I am trying to repair my tilt column that was Mickey Moused by a Covette shop. It was loose so they just stuck a rivet in it making it unrepairable now that it is loose again. I can find the steering column housing support assembly available but cannot find the steering column housing. Any suggestions? I have found a place back east that offer complete re-man columns for $575 which I am leaning towards because I don't want to buy a used one that may not be in any better shape than the one I have?

Has anyone taken over Tom Reina's corvette steering business?

He told me he bought up all the upper and lower steering column housings so that only he controls the inventory of those NOS parts.

I bought the parts from him in nov 2011, he talked me through it in december 2011, and then passed away in jan 2012.

RIP Tom !

Just for entertainment value I called the Chevy dealer and found out the parts are still available. I don't know why the Corvette shop told me 3 years ago they weren't and did the crappy rivet repair? Can get the two pieces I was looking for plus all the misc pieces to do a class job for less than $300.

I'm facing the same problem sometime in the future Not sure if I want to do it myshelf, I did a tilt column in a 72 Oldsmoble and it worked great! But it was a simpler set-up. It was when I bought my first digital camera, and I took tons of pics....and they came in handy on re-assembly.

Do you have a "lead" on a place that sells re-manufactured units? I may be interested. Mine is for a 96 automatic.

Danger! Danger!

Are these genuine new-old-stock corvette housings....

or the latest made-in-china for ACDelco replacement housings.

Just because you pay top dollar for it at a stealer and it comes in an ACDelco box doesnt mean its the same!!

Crap, I didn't think about where they were made. Still stuck in the old days I guess of everything being made in the USA. I will have to hope for the best. The place I had contacted for a reman column was Columns Galore in NY 888-326-5866. I know nothing about them so this is not a recommendation. Fortunately I have my own shop so my guys can do the repair in house and at least I will not be surprised with half *** installation/repair like last time.
